Low Employee Satisfaction Scores? The Answer Might Lie in a Better Commute

“When I commute to work by bike, I arrive with my heart already pumping a little. I feel invigorated… my day has already started. If I drive, I still feel kind of lazy, sluggish. I probably need one or two more coffees before I can really get down to work.”

                                                                                                            - Alex Zhang, Google Employee

As an HR leader, you know the constant challenge of improving engagement, retention, and employee satisfaction. If your latest employee survey came back with low scores around morale or connection, you’re not alone. Many organizations are seeing the same trends. There’s no shortage of perks designed to boost engagement, from wellness programs to office upgrades, but one aspect of the employee experience is often overlooked: the commute. Companies who invest in providing the right commuter benefits see their efforts have a profound impact on employee wellness, satisfaction, and loyalty.

That’s why so many organizations turn to Ridepanda. By offering employees access to their own e-bike or scooter, companies make commuting easier, more sustainable, and even enjoyable, while supporting clean transportation goals and return-to-office initiatives.

But beyond those outcomes, something bigger happens: teams become healthier, happier, and more connected. They also unlock a ripple effect of unexpected gains in employee well-being, focus, energy, and connection.

Beyond a Better Commute

We surveyed Ridepanda riders and asked how their new e-bike or scooter has changed their workday and the results speak for themselves. For many, what used to be the most stressful part of work, sitting in traffic, waiting on a late bus, or searching aimlessly for parking, has turned into something they actually look forward to. The commute that once drained them now gives them energy, focus, and a sense of well-being that carries through the rest of the day.

  • 66% of riders say Ridepanda has improved their mental and physical health.
  • 51% report being more physically active day to day.
  • 23% say it improves their work life balance.

But the benefits don’t stop when the workday ends. Ridepanda vehicles are used for more than commuting.

  • 65% use them for recreation or fitness
  • 43% use them for grocery runs and errands
  • 22% use them for social meetups.

Riders are taking something that started as an employee benefit and turning it into a part of their everyday lives. That kind of authentic, daily value deepens loyalty.

When employees truly love a benefit and it enhances their lifestyle beyond work, they’re far more likely to stay with the company that makes it possible.

Advancing Company Sustainability

More employees commuting via bike and scooter mean less single occupancy vehicle (SOV) commutes. This means that riders are directly contributing to their company’s sustainability goals with real, measurable results.

  • 86% of riders replace at least some car trips every week with their Ridepanda vehicle.
  • 48% replace between 6 and 10 car trips weekly, showing consistent, meaningful use.

About half of the car trips taken in the US are under 6 miles. These are short distances that are perfectly suited for an e-bike or scooter. Yet these short trips add up to massive emissions, wasted time, and daily stress. When employees shift even a few of those drives each week to a Ridepanda vehicle, it creates real change: fewer cars on the road, cleaner air, and happier commutes.

Across our rider base, employees replace an average of 6 trips per week, saving around 1,500 pounds of CO₂ per year, per employee. That equates to:

  • Planting 20–25 trees
  • Replacing nearly 1,700 miles of driving
  • Avoiding roughly one round-trip flight from New York to Chicago
  • Recycling 5,000 aluminum cans instead of sending them to landfill

From Well-Being to Real Business Impact

When employees feel better, everything else gets better too. Across the organizations we surveyed, the data shows that Ridepanda isn’t just changing how people get to work, it’s changing how they feel when they arrive:

  • 80% of riders say they feel more energized and/or less stressed after commuting on their Ridepanda vehicle.
  • 37% report better productivity and focus during the workday.
  • 34% say Ridepanda has helped them reduce commuting time, and 50% find their commute more enjoyable overall.

It’s a clear formula for success. Riders are arriving to work energized, focused, and less stressed. Their commute is shorter and more enjoyable. This leads to productive, happy employees who feel truly valued by their employers.

And perhaps one of the most inspiring findings: 53% of riders started as novice or inexperienced when it comes to cycling before they joined Ridepanda. That means employees are gaining new skills, new confidence, and new habits that support long-term behavior change and improved wellness routines.

Loyalty, Retention, and the Power of Feeling Valued

Employee loyalty can be difficult to earn, and even harder to measure. But Ridepanda’s survey data shows that companies offering sustainable, active commuting benefits are building more loyal, engaged, and happier employees.

  • 39% of riders say their Ridepanda program has increased their satisfaction with their employer.
  • 50% believe their company actively invests in employee well-being.
  • 37% feel more connected to and valued by their employer.
  • 32% say their company’s sustainability and ESG values align with their own.

These are more than feel-good statistics. They’re tangible indicators of company culture and retention. In today’s corporate world, where engagement and belonging are critical to keeping top talent, it’s rare to see such direct, measurable sentiment tied to a single benefit.

When employees feel seen, supported, and aligned with their company’s values, they stay. That means less turnover, lower recruiting and training costs, and stronger institutional knowledge over time.

Ridepanda turns an everyday action like commuting to work, into a daily reminder that their company cares about them. And that’s something employees remember when they decide where they want to build their careers.

In Their Own Words: What Employees Are Saying

Some of the most meaningful proof comes directly from the people experiencing the change every day. When we asked riders, “What has been the biggest positive change in your work or commute experience since using Ridepanda?” their answers painted a powerful picture of what it means to truly enjoy the way you get to work. Here are just some of the amazing responses we saw:

  • "Having this perk makes me feel appreciated."
  • "Spending more time outside is crucial, and Ridepanda allows me to do that."
  • "I smile more, and come into the office more often!"
  • "Riding to the office is fun, also I take my kids out on weekends which they really enjoy"
  • "I don't have to wait for the bus or sit in traffic and it gives me a predictable commute length."
  • "I can get a workout out of the way with a nice bike ride to the office. It frees up that checklist item from my mind."

These stories highlight something data alone can’t capture: joy, peace of mind, and pride. And when a benefit makes people smile on their way to work, that’s when it becomes something much bigger than a perk. It becomes part of how they experience life.

Ridepanda isn’t just improving commutes. It’s creating healthier, happier employees which in turn creates stronger, more connected workplaces. Ridepanda customers are building a culture of well-being, loyalty, and long-term success and we are incredibly proud to be part of the ride.
